Domestic violence is a recipe of taught behavior. It is the manifestation of male entitlement towards their partner's body. This is not to say that woman cannot be violent as well, it is just that the instances, the numbers, the statistics have men as the primary aggressors.
In Tara Serino’s case, the 19 year-old teen who was brutally murdered when she rejected the proposal of 34 year old Christopher R. Tucker. Specifically, she had her eyes gauged out; her neck snapped and hit with a hatchet until she succumbed to her injuries.
“She never went into that much detail about how bad it was”
This was the case with Julia Martin last year, who to death after she returned an engagement ring to her partner. Subsequently, her ex-fiancée stabbed himself. Her father never knew about the details of the relationship citing that, “She never went into that much detail about how bad it was.” This is the case with many women in abusive relationships. They do not talk about it because of shame and regret. However, the hashtag #youokSis has opened up a discussion on twitter.
