 ABOUT Her Stories:

“Her Stories Through Hashtags” aims to first, destroy the notion that internet-based activism is minuscule and irrelevant-or “slacktivism”- and argue it is instead impactful and efficient by displaying prominent hashtags and the impact towards women: individually, collectively and within the feminist discipline; showcasing the quality discourses that these hashtags enable.

Additionally, we present a space for women to visit, view stories, and gain inspiration.  This site is intended to be a platform for solidarity at the least, and at the most an instrument for social justice work within the feminist scope. Through contributing stories from women within varying intersections we hope to fulfill the individual needs of various self-identified women as they search for support and resources.

The incorporation of different intersections is demonstrated within the #SayHerName hashtag, which came about as an outcry for female representation within the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Sparked by the death of Sandra Bland, many black women felt that the discussion on police brutality was reserved for black men, and black men only which prompted them to exclaim, “say her name.”
